NFU Mutual’s new “Keep Clive Alive” interactive farm safety game got the royal seal of approval when Sophie, Countess of Wessex tried her hand at the Royal Cornwall Show.

The computer game involves having to save Clive the farmer by clicking to make him react before he gets injured on the farm. The Countess spent over five minutes playing the game amid much hilarity, as part of her official tour of the Cornwall Show. Despite several attempts at the three safety scenarios, the Countess only managed to score 72,400 – a third of the top score recorded at the show.

“It was the first time the “Keep Clive Alive” game, which is part of a range of farm safety activities organised by the newly-founded Farm Safety Foundation, had been at a major agricultural show and it went down a storm,” said NFU Mutual Press Officer, Tim Price.

“We had people aged from three to over 70 queuing up to play the game and sign-up to support our “Who Would Fill Your Boots” farm safety initiative. The game proved to be a great crowd-puller because it’s fun and has a competitive element – but it’ also promoting a serious farm safety message.”
