The Royal Cornwall Show has officially opened this morning. The three-day event at the Wadebridge Showground will be attended today and tomorrow by HRH The Countess of Wessex.

This year over 1000 trade stands plus exciting events planned for the day including the Bolddog Lings freestyle motocross team, massed display of hounds, the RAF Falcons parachute display team and the Lizard Stallions Tug of War challenge.

Today also sees judging begin on the many different categories of animals, birds, and flowers on show including poultry, cattle, bees and honey, and fleeces. Today's main ring started at 8am with Riding Horses followed by Ridden Hacks and goes on until the evening with the showjumping class starting at 7pm.

Christopher Riddle, RCCA secretary, said: “Everything is set for the opening day of Royal Cornwall Show. The livestock started to arrive on Tuesday and entries are at near record levels. “We are looking forward to another fantastic show and a celebration of all that is great about Cornwall.”

Fair weather is forecast today with the chance of a midday shower for the visitors to the Wadebridge Showground.
