An arable conference is due to be held at this years Cereals event, run in association with De Lacy Executive.

Aimed at sharing the latest agricultural research, the guest speakers will tackle issues such as Brexit, chemical restrictions and accelerating scientific innovation.

Regular visitor Jono Dixon will attend, and says that the seminars will be a highlight of this years Cereals, held June 14 to 15.

Kicking off proceedings on the Wednesday is a panel session on Brexit, with speakers including NFU president Meurig Raymond and David Caffall, chief executive of the Agricultural Industries Confederation.

There will also be technical seminars, talks on farm management information, livestock and arable production, and the implications of leaving the EU.

Talks include 'Brexit, what does the future hold', 'Pre-harvest use of glyphosate should be banned' and ‘Turning data and technology into farm profit’.

According to event organiser Jon Day, the seminars have been designed to attract, and include, a wide spectrum of people in the industry.

He said: "No-one really knows what lies ahead in the next few years.

“The Arable Conference will really help to put the challenges and opportunities into perspective, and explore what the industry can do practically to ensure we’re as prepared as possible.”
