An upcoming conference due to be held at the Organic Research Centre is set to discuss the impact that Brexit will have on farming, and discuss possible solutions for uncertain times.

The annual Producers Conference, held in Birmingham on February 1 and 2, 2017, will this year be discuss the possible effect Brexit could have on the farming world.

Called 'Rising to the Challenge', the meeting will offer up practical organic farming solutions, which is advertised as appealing to progressive conventional farmers, and organic farmers alike.

Professor Nic Lampkin, executive director of the Organic Research Centre, said: "Without question, the Brexit referendum result has opened up a significant debate about the future of agriculture in the UK, and the place of organic businesses, in terms of not only access to, and continuation of, conversion and maintenance support, but also how exchange rates and regulations might change, and the impacts that could have on both domestic markets and export orotundities.

"Research and other organisations supporting organic businesses are facing similar challenges as access to European funding for research, promotional and other initiatives comes into question"
