2015 has been a year of significant change for farmers and agricultural businesses in the South West, including the Basic Payment Scheme and updates to the permitted development rules.
Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants has therefore decided to host a series of seminars across Devon in conjunction with land agents and solicitors to address the changes we feel to be most important.
There is still uncertainty about the new Basic Payment Scheme, which people need to understand for next year's application process.
There have been important updates to the permitted development regulations and the seminars will delve into what they will mean in practice and what landowners will actually be able to build under the new rules.
Other topics covered will include how to ensure you are protecting your most valuable assets and not missing out on available tax relief.
The evening seminars, which all start at 7.30pm and include a light buffet, take place next month at the following venues: • Thursday October 1 - Best Western, Blundells Road, Tiverton • Tuesday October 6 - The Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum, Crediton • Thursday October 8 - Cow Shed Café, New Market Road, Holsworthy • Tuesday October 20 - Axminster Football Club, Tiger Way, Chard Road, Axminster.
