Cornwall Farmers’ equine roadshow is underway, and the first event at their Patch & Acre store in Penzance on Saturday 29 March attracted a great turnout.

Toby Clark from Penzance, a regular customer at Patch & Acre, won a Bates All Purpose Cair Saddle worth £999 in the ‘Gullet Change Challenge,’ which saw customers compete to adjust the gullet of a custom fit saddle in the fastest time.

Toby, who attended the event with his wife Elaine, said: “I entered the competition to win the saddle for my wife and she’s over the moon.”

Elaine continued: “I can’t believe we won. I have never won anything this big before and never owned a new saddle.”

Toby and Elaine own six horses and compete in show-jumping, showing and dressage competitions. Toby won the challenge with a time of 1 minute 56 seconds.

Isobel Hanson, equine category manager at Cornwall Farmers, said: “We’re so pleased for Elaine and Toby. This was a fantastic prize and we’re delighted that so many people came along on the day to have a go at winning the saddle as well as taking advantage of all the great offers available.

“The event itself was a huge success and we were thrilled that Elaine was so chuffed with her new saddle.”

The day featured presentations from guest suppliers including Jude Capon from Wintec and Bates saddles who was on hand to talk to customers about saddle fitting. Exclusive discounts and tack marking were also available.

Cornwall Farmers next equine events take place at Wadebridge (Saturday April 5), Launceston (Saturday April 12), and Bideford (Saturday April 12).
