POLICE seized a stolen van allegedly used to help commit a Dorset burglary in what was a busy shift for the force's rural crime team.

The white van was found by police in west Dorset and towed away on a recovery vehicle after it was allegedly used to commit a burglary at a farm in the area on Wednesday night (April 12).

This was not the only incident rural officers had to deal with in the county that day.

Teams in the eastern end of the county, in the area of Boveridge, near Cranborne, police responded to reports of hare coursing but despite a search, there was no trace of the vehicle involved.

Follow-up enquiries will be conducted and further patrols of the area carried out, police said.

Rural Crime Team officers also stopped a vehicle for not displaying its registration effectively (pictured below).

The driver of the car had attached a tow hitch which hid some of the license plate, and he later received a ticket.

Police issued a reminder to drivers to always make sure their plates can be clearly seen on their vehicles.
