Nearly 50 acres of crop stubbles caught fire in Devon yesterday (Tuesday, August 30), causing a National Trust property to close.

The fire broke out in a field in Coleton Fishacre area, near Kingswear, leading to eight fire crews from across the region being mobilised just after midday.

The farmer "greatly assisted" the situation by ploughing fire breaks into the field to prevent the fire spreading further, said firefighters.
