The annual Cheffins Harrogate Vintage Sale attracted vast crowds as more than 1000 lots of historic and rare items went under the hammer at the Great Yorkshire Showground on Saturday August 18.

With in excess of 85 classic tractors on offer, the sale grossed over £376,000 at the largest auction of its type in the northern counties.

A trio of classic Ford tractors were the highlight of the sale. In excellent original condition, a 1990 Ford 7810 sold for an eye watering £22,575; followed by a 1991 Ford 6810 which sold for £17,010 and a 1988 Ford 4610 which sold for £8,505.

In addition, an unusual 1980 Mercedes Unimog which had undergone restoration was sold for £10,290. Similarly there was a line-up of classic Massey Fergusons on offer which saw competitive bidding, including; a FE35 which sold for £7,035; a MF 35 which sold for £7,245 and an MF 65 which sold for £5,200.

The implements, spares and bygones also met a strong trade with over 90 per cent of lots being sold on the day.

Highlights include a Hilliam single axle trailer selling for £4,125 and a rare David Brown three-way tipping trailer selling for £1,815, whilst a Ferguson low volume sprayer sold for £1,914. Amongst the cars, a 1983 Land Rover Series 3 sold for £5,250 and a 2002 Land Rover Defender made £6,195
