A major reduction sale from the Haltcliffe Limousin Herd, Wigton, Cumbria is to be held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on January 26 2018 at 11.30am.

With the herd being one of the foremost pedigree names in the UK, ringside is certain to be standing room only.

Cow families are the bedrock of all successful herds and none more so than that of the Ridley family at Haltcliffe. A strict culling programme underpins the Ridleys' determination to maintain and strengthen cow families that consistently produce progeny that meet precise selection criteria. The name ‘Haltcliffe’ is synonymous with the Limousin Breed as many prize winning and high prices animals carry the prefix.

The sale includes progeny from notable cow families Renoncule, Romance and Romany as well as Ronick Ricole, Perle, Ainsi and Rafale. Renocule in particular has produced a strong breeding line that has consistently produced good bulls and females, most notably the 100,000gns Haltcliffe Vermount. The sale offers 16 heifers and young cows for sale from Renoncule or her daughters. Nine heifers and young cows from Romance or her offspring will be available and eight females from Romany or her daughters, including the first daughter to sell from this family.

Another important consideration for buyers is the quality of the main service sires for the young cows and heifers on offer. They include the prolific breeder Ampertain Elgin and his son Grahams Michael, the Cloughhead Umpire son Swalesmoor Liam, Ballyrobin Joop and Dinmore Jacot.

The sale offers females to meet all tastes and provides a good opportunity for buyers starting a herd or established breeders looking to enhance their herd with a different bloodline.
