Over 850 members of the scouting and guiding community are expected to attend the Royal Three Counties Show this year following the launch of an exclusive new challenge badge.

Enthusiastic Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from across the counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire will be joining their Beaver, Cub and Scout brethren in attempting to earn a unique badge which will be available at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show.

This guiding challenge badge was introduced following the success of 2016’s unveiling of the Royal Three Counties Show occasion badge for the Scouting community.

Diana Walton, head of shows, said: “We are so pleased to have partnered with the Girl Guiding community to introduce the Royal Three Counties Show challenge badge at this year’s show.

"Last year we welcomed hundreds of Scouts, Beavers and Cubs to take part and so we were thrilled to hear that we could create this special challenge badge for the Guides to earn.

"Our show is the perfect platform for children of all ages to engage with our wonderful countryside and learn about farming in a fun and friendly environment.

"We’re really pleased with the response so far and are looking forward to welcoming all the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to the show.”

Running alongside the challenge badge for the guide groups will be the exclusive Occasion badge that is available to the Scout groups from the surrounding three counties. Introduced in 2016, this badge also celebrates the rural communities that we live and work in.

To receive the badge the Guides will complete a series of activities during their visit to the show. This includes participating in activities taking place around the showground such as discovering livestock breeds, finding out how to manage a smallholding and finding the Henson Pig amongst a whole host of other interesting tasks.

The badge is open to Rainbows, Brownies and Guides within the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Parents are invited to come along to the show with an exclusive offer.

Each Guide can redeem a pre-booked discounted adult ticket at £15 but these tickets are only available in advance through a Guide leader and not available on the gate during the show.

There are many other family friendly activities taking place at this year’s show, to find out more and for information on ticket prices.

The Royal Three Counties Show will take place from Friday June 16 and runs until Sunday, June 18.

Tickets are now on sale from £19 for adults and £5 for children, family tickets are also available.
