The National Farmers Union, in partnership with ABN, are urging all innovators within the sector to apply now for the Poultry Industry Programme, which aims to develop the future leaders of the poultry industry.

The initiative will run from September 2017 for 18 months, with a number of bespoke sessions ranging from leadership skills to improving market insight and visits to the UK and EU parliaments.

All of the previous cohort said that they would recommend the programme and found that the content was useful to their business or career.

The programme is open to all young people working in any role within the poultry industry aged between 20 and 35, and the deadline for applications is April 28.

Danny Johnson, ABN’s national sales manager, said: "After a turbulent 2016, the poultry industry is facing a period of change.

"To get through these challenging times it’s imperative that the industry work together to develop a common voice.

“The PIP programme consists of a series of events tailored to give successful candidates the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into all aspects of the poultry industry.

"It also gives them the chance to learn new skills and build relationships with a network of like-minded young professionals looking to make their mark on the sector.

“Both the NFU and ABN are invested in the programme for the long-term.

"Our vision is for the PIP to become a mark of recognition within the industry.

"With this in mind, we’re looking for people who can demonstrate a passion for the industry and have a desire to make their voice heard and play a part in shaping the future.”
