Members of Bridgwater Young Farmers clubs recently answered a call to help St John and St Francis primary school in Bridgwater with a spring gardening project.

Hannah Dyer, the social secretary for the club and a teacher at St John and St Francis school, put the club forward to help the school with this green fingered task.

Six members gave up their weekend to dig the flower beds, remove dead plants and shrubs, install a neat border and restock the bed with primulas, bulbs and flowering shrubs.

Club chairman Ben Druitt was pleased to lead the group which included Sophie and Daniel Burge, former chairman Rachel Dyer with brother John and and sister Hannah making it a real family affair.

The school appreciated the work and tweeted: "The flower bed project's starting to take shape.

"Big thanks to the #bridgwateryoungfarmers for their help planting the bulbs."
