The latest figures are in from the Holsworthy market in Liskeard, with a trio of 21-month-old South Devon Steers topping the day at £1,245, sold to John Stephens of St Winnow.

Another team of five 20-month-old Limousin steers in from Messrs Tamblyns of Wotton, Landrake reached £1,130.

The best of the Hereford steers reached £950 for Messrs RP & S Highman of Tregay near Liskeard, whilst the best of the Simmental steers topped at £1,205 on behalf of Messrs AJ Hart of St Austell.

Numbers were tight in the heifer pens however trade was really strong with the best at £870 for Simmental heifers 18 months old in from Mr RC Hoskin of Pillaton with Herefords to £790 for Messrs RP & S Higman.

Plenty of buyers looking for Friesian steers pushing the best 23-month-old steers to £930 for the first group of three and £900 for the second trio all in from Messrs B & M Martyn of Dobwalls in South East Cornwall.

Hoggs saw a small entry which met a steady trade. Top per kilo being 167p for two pens of 38 kilos from Wallace and Adrian Facey, Treneath Farm.

Top per head was £72 from Mr AEH Giddy, Trewall Farm, Downderry. 61 Draft ewes saw more on offer which met a firm trade.

Nearly all lean plain ewes on offer, top on the day was £62.50 from Messrs RS Hoskin & Sons, Hendra Farm, Polbathic.
