Sixty six animals sold, representing a near total clearance, at the Society sale of Unhaltered Females and the bi-annual sale of heifers from the Chatsworth Herd, held at Carlisle's Borderway Mart.

The catalogue comprising of cows, served, bulling and maiden heifers drew both pedigree and commercial buyers.

Top price in the Unhaltered Female Sale was the 2400gns paid for Bowers Rosetta from Messrs RK&EM Jackson, Mountain View, Seaville, Silloth. This April 2000 born cow sold with her sixth calf at foot was bred by Mr. GTW James, The Weir, Hereford. Purchased by the Jacksons in May 2002 for 4000gns, she is by the famous Greensons Gigolo and is out of the Broadmeadows Cannon daughter Bowers Margaret. This breeding attracted well-known buyer Mr. JA Ewing, Drumbretton Farms, Annan, Dumfries & Galloway. The very next lot, also from Messrs RK&EM Jackson, Cockleshell Usabella, made 2200gns when selling to an undisclosed buyer. This five-year-old cow, bred by Mr. P Pitcher, Ivy House Farm, Friskney, Boston, Lincs, was originally purchased for 5000gns as a calf at foot with her mother Cockleshell Layla. Again, Usabella is by Greensons Gigolo.
