Increase turnover at market

Kivells, auctioneers, have seen a massive increase in turnover in the last 12 months in their livestock markets in Devon and Cornwall.

Kivells, who run markets at Holsworthy in Devon as well as Hallworthy and Liskeard in Cornwall, are now the region's largest livestock auctioneers with over 3,000 head of stock going under the hammer each week.

Amongst the highlights are store sheep sales which have increased by an outstanding 83.9% with cull ewes increasing by 18.6% and store cattle numbers up by 13.8%.

Partner and auctioneer of Kivells, Mark Bromell, said, "We are delighted to see our numbers increasing year on year and, with new buyers for both prime and store stock attending each week, all is set fair for a really busy autumn".

At Holsworthy last week Kivells saw a new record set in terms of turnover for a one-day auction with new heights in the breeding sheep and cow sections. It is good to see that Holsworthy has seen the reintroduction of pig sales with over 400 sold at their last three sales and over 130 entered for the auction on 30 August.
