Worcester Livestock Market was once again the location for the autumn sale of pedigree White Park Cattle which took place on Saturday 26 September 2015. The 2015 event was the third annual sale organised by the Society.

White Parks are the UK’s oldest breed of cattle and are registered as a rare breed.  They are not only noteworthy for their distinguished looks and ease of calving but are also increasingly used for cross breeding with off-spring showing great hybrid vigour and improved beef quality.   The breed is very hardy and will successfully out-winter.

Building on the success of the first two sales held in 2013 and 2014 the third sale showcased high quality pedigree served heifers and cows with calves at foot sold by members of the White Park Cattle Society.  There was a total clearance of cattle sold to a busy ring side of White Park enthusiasts.  At the pre-sale Show held on the previous evening Pennyspot Pheobe, bred by John Carrick and owned by David Graveston, was awarded the Champion rosette and Heathylee Trophy for the best overall female.

Chairman of the White Park Cattle Society said “Our annual pedigree sale is the showpiece of the Society and the White Park breed.  We were delighted that at least one new member purchased cattle during our sale.  Interest in the breed has increased significantly in recent months due in part to the rare quality of the delicious beef”.
