Dairy farmers could save over £27,000 a year (Dairy Manager data) by joining the new Dairy Insight Service being launched by Kingshay dairy specialists.

The business-focussed package, which has an app, enables farmers to measure and monitor real farm performance, benchmark against others and gather the latest international research and information to improve efficiencies.

Membership manager Sarah Bolt said: “It is no longer enough for dairy producers to be technically brilliant farmers – they also need to be excellent businessmen and women.

“The new service will enable farmers to identify opportunities for change and draw on expert technical advice in order to make small adjustments in management that could potentially result in significant savings.”

The UK’s leading dairy costings service, Dairy Manager, will now be included free to members as part of the service which will save them £300 a year. The benchmarking tool enables farmers to track their herd’s performance, including production, feed efficiency and gross margins, and compare to others on similar systems.Free backdates are available to get new members started.

Farmers will also benefit from a wealth of technical publications to boost productivity.

Ms Bolt said: “Members get free online access to the back catalogue of over 300 technical publications, making an excellent resource for informing business decisions and training staff.

"They can also phone and speak to a consultant any time for free practical advice on all farming issues. Efficiency is all about making the best use of resources, and we aim to help farmers use their own data to feed into better management decisions.”

The new service will be unveiled at the Dairy Tech show on February 7.
