A documentary about a British farmer who rejects corporate agribusiness, and his relationship with his Sussex dairy herd, is to feature at another US film festival this weekend.
The Moo Man had already secured a top ten rating at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year – now it is to feature at the True/False Film Festival in Missouri.
The film tells the story of Stephen Hook and his father Phil – and their 55 Fresians.
A spokesperson for the film festival explains: “About a decade ago the Hooks converted to organic milk, both because of the price premium and the fact that they were already farming that way. Further, faced with a financial pinch from corporate food purchasing, they decided to sell raw, unpasteurized milk direct to consumers. But this isn't an issue film. It's a love story about the day-to-day mutuality and exchange between humans, land and animals. It's also pastoral bliss: tender, dreamy and surprisingly moving.”
The 90-minute documentary will be available on DVD, and shown in selected UK cinemas, later this year.
